The Defense Finance and Accounting Service requested a decision concerning an Air Force officer's claim for basic allowance for quarters (BAQ) while she was on temporary duty.

GAO held that the officer was entitled to BAQ, even though she was not incurring any housing expenses during her. An Air Force officer filed a claim for reinstatement of his full variable housing allowance (VHA) pursuant to his and his wife's curatorship contract with the state of Maryland.
